On June 22, 1944 collapsed on the Laws end of a Lancaster bomber crashed I of 49 Squadron, flown by F / Lt J.R. Hill. He came with his entire crew were killed: Sgt. G. F. Witty; F / O K.W. Jones; Sgt. T. B. Whewell; Sgt. T. A. Hall; Sgt. D.M.F. Bell and F / Sgt G.F. Wood. The bomber was a member from a mission to Germany with the intention to bomb a complex of chemical plants in Gelsenkirchen, where synthetic fuel from coal was mined. Of the 123 Lancasters who had participated in the raid, eight were shot down over Brabant. Except in Nuenen, they crashed in Boxtel, Drunen Helvoirt, Macharen, Riethoven, in Werkendam in the Biesbosch and Westerhoven.

The Crew was on her 9th surgery. They flew in a Lancaster ME675 (EA-R).
