Son of Albert Edward and Isabel Duck from Kettering; Northamptonshire; Husband of Marjorie Doreen Madeline Duck from Kettering.

On June 22, 1944 2:20 came a British Lancaster I of the 630 Squadron 4 kilometers of Cafe Chain down. The aviator was P / O J.H.G. Smith. The bomber was a member from a mission to Germany with the intention to bomb a complex of chemical plants in Gelsenkirchen, where synthetic fuel from coal was mined. Of the 123 Lancasters who had participated in the raid, eight were shot down over Brabant. Except in Boxtel, she crashed in Drunen, Helvoirt, Macharen, Nuenen, Riethoven, in Werkendam in the Biesbosch and Westerhoven.

All seven crew members of the flight arrived at the crash killed.
