Husband of Ellen May Purdy from South Shields; Co. Durham.

Thomas Purdy lived at 47 Marsden St, South Shields, Tyne & Wear with his wife Ellen May and young son. His parents George a Colliery Fitter for the Mine and Elizabeth lived at 20 Harton Rise South Shields, Tyne & Wear.
They were officially given news of his death on 23 July 1942 – he’d been missing in action since 27/28 December 1941.
Stanley Barraclough escaped by parachute. Taken prisoner – Stalag 383 Hohenfels near Nurenberg. Scarlett also used a parachute but it must not have opened. He died.
Plane shot down by Hauptman Streib – night flyer ace 1911-1986 – he attacked with incendiary shells.
