On July 26 1943 crashed around 1:40 pm at Hamlet ‘t Kantje an Avro Lancaster III 156 Squadron down, flown by F / O J.M. Hudson. This night bombers were shot down over Lieshout, Elsendorp and Oisterwijk.

The aircraft was on a mission to Essen. It was first hit by a German night fighter and then attacked again by Maj Streib of 1 / NGJ. Almost the entire crew came to this crash to: pilot F / O John Melvill Hudson (21); navigator Sgt Albert James Ede (22); radio operator and gunner Sgt Harry Lewis (23); Flight Engineer Sgt Jeffrey Burroughs (21) and gunner Sgt William Edward Wakeman (21). One crew member was able to leave the plane timely K. Weaver. he was taken prisoner by the Germans.
